Irish Dexter Cattle, British White Cattle and Chinchillas
Farm History

Cedarview Farm, as it is known today, was a dream of ours even as children. Mark and I both spent many years on the family farms, Mark on his grandparents, and me on my parents and grandparents. Our farm name came from Mark's grandparents farm which was started after WWII. The farm throughout its lifetime had been a dairy farm, beef cattle farm, tobacco farm and chicken farm. Learning early in life that you have to be flexible, Mark was already preparing for his distant future. We began the planning back in 1998 while working in Washington DC, living in the suburbs of Waldorf, MD. We researched several different types of animals from Highland Cattle to Sugar Gliders. In February of 2001, we purchased our first two chinchillas, Melody and Shianne. Now, we have over 50 breeding chinchillas being every color. In February of 2003, we put down the 1/2 payment required for Amy and Jester, our first miniature horses. We first fell in love with Noelly, our Irish Dexter bull, back in 2002, but while living in the suburbs, it was hard to keep him. After 4 years, we finally got Noelly and brought him to our farm of 16 acres. It was a big leap to move from a home we had been raising our children in for 7 years, but we knew we couldn't board our 5 horses, at that time, forever. So, in June of 2003, we were deeded land from Mark's family, and the move was on. It was quite an adventure moving 80 chinchillas and then 11 horses, plus the dogs and pet rabbit, but eventually it was done. All went well and no one even took ill. Once on the farm, we had a ton to do; build fences and barns, stalls and a well house. As you may see, we don't get bored and the projects never end. But with all of the tasks we face, we haven't been happier and look forward to watching the grandchildren one day come to visit our farm, hopefully that won't be for several years. Ha Ha. We invite you to come out and enjoy some time with us and our little friends, you may just find yourselves hooked as we quickly did.
Sincerely, Mark and Sherry Morrison and Boys
